The bench tower in action
Important
We’ve built safety into every step
The gas struts on each corner are there to prevent the tower from crashing down, adding resistance and control during setup or pack-down. Locking pins keep the frame locked firmly in place, so nothing moves unless you want it to. These aren’t afterthoughts; they’re deliberate, engineered choices that cost more to make but make all the difference.

You might be thinking...
Why is the Billyhops bench tower more expensive than the average cat tree?
Let’s unpack it... starting with the most obvious. No other cat tree is foldable or multifunctional. But let's get into the specifics.
Materials:
We use premium plywood, which is far more durable and long-lasting than the particleboard or cardboard-based materials used in most cat trees. It's also significantly more expensive, but we chose it because it looks better, holds up over time, and aesthetically looks great.
Hardware:
To keep you and your cat secure while using the bench tower as either a bench or a tower, and to make the folding process smooth, we’ve invested heavily in the hardware, including four gas struts in every unit. We had the option to use cheaper parts, but we couldn’t compromise on safety, ease of use, or the aesthetic.
Ships assembled:
This product is highly engineered and not easy to assemble. So our team assembles it for you to save you time. That does mean higher shipping costs than if it came flatpacked.
Modular:
We designed the tower to be modular so accessories can be easily added or removed. That flexibility meant engineering the core unit in a very specific (and complex) way.
What's up with all the round holes?
Firstly, we think it looks great. But that wasn’t the main reason.
One of our goals was to make the tower portable, something you could move easily around your home or transport in your car if needed.
Rather than switch to cheaper, lighter materials (which we weren’t willing to do), we looked for creative ways to reduce the weight. So we started adding a few round holes, then more, until we hit our target weight of 18kg.
As a bonus, those holes allowed us to make the tower modular. Many of our accessories are designed to slot straight into them.
You’ll also notice the two large round holes on the diagonal planks at the bottom. Those aren’t just for looks. They let your cat move through and use the entire tower from end to end.
